Other than wishing for some mushy stuff from Josh to Donna (which probably wouldn't have satisfied anything well anyway) I thought it was rather well done. I cried three times. Then at the end I cried just for feeling sorry for myself...

No more West Wing. POOR ME!

eh...the only thing touching (IMHO) was at the end when bartlet opened his gift.

everything else was just a tidy wrap. makes me wonder that maybe the cast didn't care to participate in a pre-show to the lame finale. i mean, even santos voicing a 'what's next' in the oval office seemed too obvious. and then, the close:

      'what are you thinking about?'

      'tomorrow'

      gag me. i expected more.

I cried three times, too, Christy. Let's compare:
      1. President Bartlett walks down the halls shaking hands and saying thanks.
      2. "Make me proud" president to president
      3. Leo's napkin in the frame

I thought it was a sweet episode--not BRILLIANT, but gentle and endearing. Also very interesting from the point of view of how unique that we pass the leadership to the next person so quickly. ZIP! You're packed up and outta' there!

Capanda, if you replace the hand shaking with giving Charlie his little red book of the Contitution, we have a match! I've always loved Charlie and his character has had the most growth of all the cast...Bartlett always showed genuine love for him and I LOVED THAT. Dule Hill and Martin Sheen have great chemistry on screen...

Yeah, I totally agree--I just started the sniffles a little early and then he ended up in charlie's office and I turned into full blown cry. =)

It went out with a whimper, not a bang, but I still liked it.

Part of the problem is that it's very hard to neatly wrap up the story of an ensemble cast of this size. This isn't your typical story with 1 major protagonist. That being said, I still genuinely liked the episode The transfer of power on inauguration day in Washington is one of the most bizarre experiences America knows and other than wathcing the fanfare of the inaugural we miss most of it. The inside peek was highly enjoyable.

My favorite moment of the episode though, was Donna setting foot in her office. She has long been one of my favorite characters on the show.

I liked the episode too. Donna's reaction when she realized the office was hers was priceless. The show left me wanting more, damn them.

That office WAS a sweet reward wasn't it? I love Donna. I'm so happy that the writers gave her more of a role than just "token ignoramus" to teach us civics.

And I'm so happy that it turns out she could handle Josh in a relationship just fine...A couple of those scenes she just pretty damn near pulled a mental Dominatrix role on him. I loved that. Josh was my favorite character and when he was sitting there, stunned at Donna's newly found brazen confidence...I actually Hooted and Hollared!

yep, that scene where she leaves josh sitting at home in front of his computer speechless in his skivvies as she walks out the door and he yells out a very confused 'BYE' was priceless.
